Has anyone experienced this after pet loss?
I had my Tango for 14 years. He was huge, part great dane and part blue tick. I loved him. When he was declining and about to die the vet came to the house to give him his shot. I missed him and thought of him often. About 6 months after he died, I felt him sleeping in the bed with me like he used to, head at my toes, under the covers, with his back to me. I could also smell him. I don't think I was asleep. I was surprised and just patted him and went back to sleep because I was so sleepy. I thought, "what was Tango doing here?" All 80 pounds of him. I know it's odd. And no, I don't take drugs and am single except for my daughter. who doesn't have big paws.
I think that sometimes our minds play tricks on us, which can help aid us in the grieving process. You feeling Tango there in such a real way is, in my opinion, your minds way of telling you that he's still with you.
When my cat, Ruby, passed away last year, I know that there were a few times in the months after her death when I thought I saw her for a few brief seconds. It felt very well, at the time.
